Comments from Pom: "I have learned a
lot from the various tribal groups who have made their home in the northern Thailand
foothills of the Himalayan mountain range. Even though I am not a Hill-tribal person I
feel very much at home when I visit their villages. Their simple way of life,
understanding of nature, community awareness, personal warmth and unique cultures never
fail to impress me. I feel fortunate that I have the chance to show people around this
fascinating area. Trekking is so much fun, meeting tribal people, elephant riding, bamboo
rafting, jungle walking and the wonders of nature combine to make a two or three-day trek
the highlight of many a visitors holiday."
Pom is one of the few female guides to run
professional treks in Thailand. She is recognised by other guides as unequal in her tribal
and area knowledge , care of visitors and professional attitude. She knows the forest, people,
culture, fauna & flora like any other guide. This ensures that those fortunate enough
to rek with her have a truly wonderful trek. Visitors often cite her as one of the
best all-around guides in the country, if not, the region.
Pom takes only small groups of four to eight
people and many of them insist on her as a guide and have been returning year after year.
