"Book early for Christmas or risk having no room!"

Phuket hotels have just recorded a whopping 80% occupancy rate during their low season and expect to be bulging at the seams over their busiest period of the year which falls Nov-Feb. Reasons vary but a large number of otherwise Bali or Penang bound beach visitors are choosing the relative safety of Thailand's premier seaside resort. In relation to this Koh Samui -Thailand's coconut island - is also packed to the rafters with holiday makers over the same high season period as Phuket.

Accommodation in the rest of Thailand is also becoming difficult to obtain for the same reasons. Hua-Hin, Pattaya and other beach resorts are reporting their best pre season bookings ever and the mountain get-a-ways of Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Mae Hong Son are almost to close their "advance order" books.  The Bangkok room availability situation is not quite so tight with many city hotels still waiting for hi-season bookings to fill their hotels

The message is - if you intend to come to Thailand and want guaranteed accommodation don't leave it to the last moment.
