Chiang Mai Aerial Adventure
Since the first hardy backpackers made arrangements with tribal guides to trek the
surrounding mountain hills Chiang Mai has remained the principle adventure capital of
Thailand.
Numerous projects were established from walking trips, elephant safaries, go-karting,
horse riding, oxcart jaunts, mountain bike rides, rock-climbing to rubber-rafting
expeditions. They encompassed almost every type of adventure the local terrain could
offer.
Not content with land and river thrills, trips into the air are now possible. A
micro-light service has been established at Doi Saket, some twenty kilometres from Chiang
Mai. The pilot, Mr Prayote, a long time expert, perfected the sport whist living in
France. His two stroke, two seater craft cruises at 1200 feet and provides unparalleled
views of the lush green countryside skirting Chiang Mai. The plane is equipped with a
two-way communication device between pilot and passenger so nothing is missed as they
enjoy the splendid scenery from the air. This scenery includes a dam, a royal project,
verdant rice fields, hilltop temple, and bemused farmers is sure to leave visitors with a
lasting impression of the beauties of the area. Flight time takes around thirty minutes,
takes one passenger per time, and operates from the early morning to late afternoon.
