Hua Hin emerged as Thailand's first beach resort and
has been a
favored Royal retreat since the 1920's. Hua Hin beach is 5 km
long. Hua Hin means "Head of Stone" which refers to the rocks at
the north end of the beach. Hua Hin is a laid-back, small town resort ideal for
families and couples and offering a homely stay for all.
Hua Hin is also know as a golfers paradise with some of the best
golf in Thailand. Snorkeling, waterfalls, national parks and
health spas are all in addition to the fine beaches that await
holiday makers. |
Getting to Hua Hin
The town is 300 km from Bangkok on the Western side of the
peninsula facing the Gulf of Thailand
By Train - Travel to Hua Hin is by train. Timetables
and online bookings can
be made here.
By Road -
Hua Hin is around 3 hours drive from Bangkok. Airport taxi's,
buses (from Sai Tai station) or
rental cars can be picked up in Bangkok.

By Air - Flights are intermittently possible from Bangkok
to Hua Hin airport which is just north of the town. Many
airlines have scheduled this route but they often cease
operation with little notice. As the city is just 300 km from
the capital little time is saved by flying. |

Getting Around Hua Hin
The city is small enough to browse and walk around the various
areas. Motorbike taxi's ply popular corners for longer trips as
do pick up taxi's. No regular taxi's at present. For safety's
sake unauthorized drivers are best avoided.

Hua Hin Water-sports
Jet ski's, banana boats and parasailing are all available for hire
on the beach. Swimmers should take precautions.
Hua Hin - Town attractions
Hua Hin is a typical Thai costal town that does not try to
imitate the flashy western style resorts that proliferate around
Asia. It's small size makes it ideal for walking and browsing. To
the north is the fishing village where trawlers lands their fresh
catch daily. Royal Hua Hin Golf club and the train station are in
close proximity and both worth a look. |
Hua Hin - Souvenirs and Gift items
Aside from the usual souvenir items found all over Thailand Hua
Hin offers locally made dolls, ornaments, decorations crafted from
sea shells and coconuts. Woven cloth know as "Kommapat" is unique to
the area and make unusual gifts as do pineapple / coconut products, dried
fruits and aloe vera.
