| We have just received two bulls to our Park in need of urgent medical treatment.
A young
bull named Poo-Keaw age 18 years old suffered injuries on all four
feet from standing on the chemicals used by farmers to control insects. |
 |
 |
His toe nails were coming off and he was in great pain, so we
started a treatment program for him. Poo-keaw is owned by Karen
tribesmen and currently working in a tourist elephant camp. We hope
the owner will let him to stay with us until he fully heals before
taking him back to work. |
A second bull named Khum-min, 46 year old was also in urgent need of
treatment. We took him from another tourist camp and found that Khum
-Min has the big abscess on his back while still working to transport
tourists. Each trip put a load of over 400 pounds on his
back. His mahout told us he has had this
abscess for more than 3 months. We saw the tears of pain as he
struggled with tourists on his back. We are negotiated with his owner
to rent him and offer him freedom at our park, at least, until he
heals.

Khun Min enjoys a snack
and a break away from work |
