"I stood, transfixed as this colossal wonder mocked the falsities of my time!"

| Despite fame for her ancient cultures Cambodia did
not even exist 5,000 years ago. The area is flat and was
under the sea. When sea levels dropped the land was settled by
regional migrants.
Influences from present day China, Vietnam and India all played
a major part in the shaping of a nation now regarding themselves
as Khmer.
The country is almost round in shape and it's small size will make
it fairly easy to travel when they get around to fixing the roads.
The best route is between Phnom Pehn and Sihanoukville, best to
take a boat between the capital and Siem Reap. |

Bordered by Thailand, Vietnam and Laos the
country can be reached by land, sea and air with Thailand being
the favoured port of entry for most. Flights from Bangkok and
Chiang Mai (via Sukothai) to Siem Reap and Phnom Penh are the most popular
arrival points. Boats from south west Thailand depart from
near Trat in South West Thailand and arrive at Koh Kong.
An exotic country awaits the adventurous and most amenities
necessary for a comfortable stay are easily found.
The main attraction Angkor Wat draws thousands every
month, many of them repeat visitors to the world heritage
site. Beaches, a dark history former French colonial city
charms ensure a unique and special place for vacation. |
